Spin-Spin and Spin-Orbit Interactions in Strongly Coupled Gauge Theories

چکیده

We evaluate the spin-orbit and spin-spin interaction between two fermions in strongly coupled gauge theories in their Coulomb phase. We use the quasi-instantaneous character of Coulomb’s law at strong coupling to resum a class of ladder diagrams. For N = 4 SYM we derive both weak and strong coupling limits of the the spin-orbit and spin-spin interactions, and find that in the latter case these interactions are subleading corrections and do not seriously affect the deeply bound Coulomb states with large angular momentum, pointed out in our previous paper. The results are important for understanding of the regime of intermediate coupling, which is the case for QCD somewhat above the chiral transition temperature.

Lattice gauge theories and the Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain ∗

We study the strongly coupled 2-flavor lattice Schwinger model and the SU(2)-color QCD2. The strong coupling limit, even with its inherent nonuniversality, makes accurate predictions of the spectrum of the continuum models and provides an intuitive picture of the gauge theory vacuum. The massive excitations of the gauge model are computable in terms of spin-spin correlators of the quantum Heise...

Long-Lived Spin-Orbit-Coupled Degenerate Dipolar Fermi Gas

We describe the creation of a long-lived spin-orbit-coupled gas of quantum degenerate atoms using the most magnetic fermionic element, dysprosium. Spin-orbit coupling arises from a synthetic gauge field created by the adiabatic following of degenerate dressed states composed of optically coupled components of an atomic spin. Because of dysprosium’s large electronic orbital angular momentum and ...

Long-range spin-triplet correlations and edge spin currents in diffusive spin-orbit coupled SNS hybrids with a single spin-active interface.

Utilizing a SU(2) gauge symmetry technique in the quasiclassical diffusive regime, we theoretically study finite-sized two-dimensional intrinsic spin-orbit coupled superconductor/normal-metal/superconductor (S/N/S) hybrid structures with a single spin-active interface. We consider intrinsic spin-orbit interactions (ISOIs) that are confined within the N wire and absent in the s-wave superconduct...

Quantum Interference Control of Ballistic Magneto- resistance in a Magnetic Nanowire Containing Two Atomic- Size Domain Walls

The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...

Theory of single electron spin relaxation in Si/SiGe lateral coupled quantum dots

We investigate the spin relaxation induced by acoustic phonons in the presence of spin-orbit interactions in single electron Si/SiGe lateral coupled quantum dots. The relaxation rates are computed numerically in single and double quantum dots, in in-plane and perpendicular magnetic fields. The deformation potential of acoustic phonons is taken into account for both transverse and longitudinal p...
